first post - bit longer than most i imagine, as i'm stretching back in time a bit here.
nick hornsby - The Polysyllabic Spree
this is pretty much excellent, in the first two sevenths of which of it i've read.
am pages away from finishing Hemingway's Across the River and into the Trees
which is decent hemingway but not my favorite.
I've abandoned nabokov's Bend Sinister
for reasons i can't recall.
I picked up my first Umberto Eco
; it's Baudolino
, because Pegasus Books
doesn't have a copy of Foucault's Pendulum
(sp?). Looking forward.
Going to reread the oxbow incident
Taking with me right now to the pizza joint 'true confessions', by John Dunne
, a 1977 or so hardboiled detective novel which will hopefully have lots of tits in.
Recently finished DF Wallace's
'The Broom of the System
', which is good, but not fantastic and i definitely skipped passages here and there which i haven't done with any other DFW books. It seems like a study for Infinite Jest
I should probably bold all the book and author names.. .. wow, blogspot is pretty cool.
Have abandoned As I Lay Dying by Faulkner
. It's just no good. Along with The Sound and the Fury
. His short stories are pretty much straight-up good, tho.
by Jim Dodge
was really good. I liked it a lot more than Stone Junction
, which was too psychedelia-loving for my tastes. I pretty much lump it in with Tom Robbins
's stuff. Stone junction, that is. Being lumped in.
